Cards for Charity

I was asked to put together a basket of cards for a Chinese auction at a charity event being held today. I try to make at least two of every card I create so I always have some on hand. That sure came in handy when I was asked to do this! I hope they like it.

Sorry for the short post today but we are having a little household crisis! Our refrigerator broke down Wednesday. Friday is was supposed to be repaired, but the cost to repair it was not worth it. We were pretty upset about it because it's only 8 years old! We bought a new one yesterday afternoon and it was delivered this morning. It doesn't fit!!!!!

Have a wonderful Saturday and say a prayer for me!

Twick or Tweet

The theme for the Pals Paper Arts challenge today is Halloween. What fun!!! I used one of the stamps from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini being released September 1st. It's called "Twick or Tweet". What a cute name for a Halloween stamp set, don't you think?

This card has many layers. I started with a black card base. I wanted to "pop" the Rich Razzleberry so I first embossed it with a Stampin' Up! Texturz Plate and then glued it on top of Crushed Curry just leaving a hint of the Curry color show.

The little tweety bird is standing in grass I drew freehand to tie in my Old Olive color Top Note die cut. If you have any questions about this or any other creation of mine, please don't hesitate to e-mail me or leave me a comment at the end of this post for more directions. I would be more than happy to share!

Here is the recipe (all supplies from Stampin' Up!):

Stamps: Twick or Tweet (#116497 avail Sept 1st)

Ink: Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry,
Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Basic Black

Card Stock: Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive,
Dusty Durango, Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories: orange brad & ribbon (non-SU!)

Tools: Curly Label Punch (#112208), Top Note Die (#113463),
Backgrounds Texturz Plates (#114512)

Sneak Peek: Delightful Decorations

Today I have a wonderful sneak peek from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini to share with you! The stamp set is called Delightful Decorations. This set includes four beautiful ornaments as well as three smaller circle stamps. There is a coordinating punch which will cut out your stamped ornaments perfectly! There is even matching rub-ons to make things even easier for creating your holiday paper crafts.

What do you think about the patterned paper I used? Another sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini. This paper is GORGEOUS! Some of the papers in this pack have a shimmer to it and a flocked design. This paper matches perfectly with Stampin' Up! in color Soft Suede and Real Red.

Helpful Hint for Holiday Card Making: Last year I made about 50 Christmas cards total. It never hurts to get a head start and mass produce! I make five cards of each design I create for Christmas. Before you know it, you will have what you need and have quite an assortment for all your friends and family!

Check out the product list for this creation at the bottom of the post. Please e-mail me if you have any questions or leave a comment at the bottom of this post & I will respond.

Sneak Peek Treat

How about a little Stampin' Up! Halloween sneak peek treat today? The Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA4) for today is "Anything BUT A Card". How about theses Halloween themed Sour Cream Containers? Cute? All the supplies are from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog due out September 1st. The tutorial for the containers can be found HERE on Splitcoaststampers website. The directions are simple and the supplies I used are minimal.

Here is the recipe so you can start your wish list:
Stamps: Twick or Tweet (available Sept 1st)
Designer Series Paper: Night & Day Specialty (available Sept 1st)
Card Stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: 1/4 Grosgrain Pumpkin Pie Ribbon
Tools: Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4 Circle Punch,
1 3/8 Circle Punch, Curly Label Punch

Just a little note: The Night & Day Designer Series paper in the new mini includes two black polka-dot window sheets! I used one for a container. Wouldn't candy corn look yummy in this one? You can fill these little containers with Hershey Kisses, M&M's, Skittles, Tootsie Rolls, etc. Throw in a plastic spider ring among the candy as a little "trick". Hee hee!

Stampin Up Match Made In Heaven

I'm back! This past week was my annual Royal Family Kids Camp I volunteer for. It's a camp for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. It's always fun, but tiring. It was a great group of kids this year! I purchased the new Stampin' Up! Butterfly punch which matches up perfectly with the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set - a match made in heaven! I couldn't wait to play with this pair. You can make some very pretty butterflies. I chose Pumpkin Pie with in color Soft Suede for my main colors. I think this color combination will be reappearing for fall.

Do you recognize the ribbon I used from the Stampin' Up! catalog? If not, that's ok. It's not pictured because it's the reverse side of 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon in Soft Suede. This ribbon is double sided! You can use the polka dot side or the solid color on the opposite side. Bonus!

Speaking of ribbon, I will be offering a Stampin' Up! Ribbon Originals Share later this week! Stay tuned for details. It's a great opportunity to get a supply of all the Ribbon Originals without having to buy full packages of all of them.

Enjoy your day and don't forget to subscribe to my blog in the upper left-hand sidebar to get all my updates! Thank you!!!

Be Inspired - Pals Paper Arts Challenge #3 (PPA3)

Hello friends! I'm working remotely on vacation with limited time and supplies. I just had to participate in the Pals Paper Arts Inspiration Challenge (PPA3) this week. You know I could never stay away from Stampin' Up! for too long. I'd start going through withdrawl! :)

The inspiration piece is from a Pottery Barn Kids catalog. I decided to pull from the inspiration the blue two-toned rug with the green trim, the white walls, and the little hint of yellow throughout the room. Check out the Stampin' Up! supply list at the end of the post to see all the fun products I used.

Sorry for the short post, but I'll be back on schedule Sunday with a Stampin' Up! in color card. I just love those new colors!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Up! Lattice Bigz Die Takes Center Stage

I must say, it's easy to create a card using the Stampin' Up! Lattice Bigz Die! This die does all the work for you. Makes for a quick and easy, yet elegant card!

Here is a list of the Stampin' Up! supplies
I used for this creation:

Stamps: Trendy Trees (#113258 sentiment only)
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Card Stock: Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow
Designer Series Paper: To The Nines (#114038)
Accessories: Silver Brads
Tools: Big Shot (#113439), Lattice Bigz Die (#115958)

Once you run the Lattice die through your Big Shot, you get all these little shapes to punch out from the cut image. I used them to create a flower at the bottom of the card pictured above, or you could use them as leaves on another creation. I always hate to waste good scraps!
Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini sneak peeks will be coming soon! Wait until you see the new holiday stuff. It's going to be very fun!

Have a great weekend!

Sketch Challenge from Pals Paper Arts

I'm a bit of a rebel today! I took the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge, using all Stampin' Up! products, and turned it on it's side. I wasn't trying to be a rebel. I was actually just having a hard time with the sketch at it's given position. Since I'm one of the "pals" I think they won't be too hard on me. :)

My PPA2 Sketch Challenge card recipe:

*The card base is Pretty in Pink.

* The next layer is a 5.25x4 piece of Garden Green card stock decoratively edged with the Scalloped Edge Punch, and dotted scallops with a white pen.

*
Tea Party Designer Series Paper tops off the Garden Green card stock with a scalloped border as well.

* A 2.75x3.75 Garden Green card stock will anchor the sentiment piece.

* The sentiment, from
Sincere Salutations, was inked in Garden Green card stock and stamped on Whisper White (2.5x3.5).

* A coordinating design of Tea Party DSP (2.25x2) was attached above the sentiment.

* Using the
Scallop Circle Punch and several circle punches, I created a little floral embellishment.

* The center of the scallop circle is a flower & leaf from the
Season of Friendship stamp set inked in Garden Green and Pretty in Pink. The center of the flower is a Pretty in Pink brad.

* Last but not least, a little satin pink ribbon from my stash tied off this creation with a little bow.

I hope you play along with the challenge! It's always fun to see what others create from a sketch.

Enjoy your day and thank you for stopping by!

Picking Blueberries

I took my little guy with me this past Saturday to pick blueberries for the first time. We had fun! He was so into it and picked out really good ones. See how intent he looks in the picture? This was serious work to him. We ate so many of them, I think the blueberries seeped into my creativity this week. I had purples and blue on my mind.

It's just a simple card today, but hopefully you'll find it pretty. I used Stampin' Up! Eggplant Envy, Lavender Lace, and Brilliant Blue for the color combination. 1) Take a 5.5x4.25 Brilliant Blue card. Attach a 5x3.75 piece of Eggplant Envy, centered on the card front.

2) A 4.75x3.5 piece of Whisper White card stock will be stamped in the bottom left corner with the leafy branch from the Stampin Up Great Friend set. I used both Eggplant Envy & Lavender Lace ink to stamp with, and slightly overlapped my images.

3) The butterfly (from Great Friend stamp set), stamped in Brilliant Blue ink, will be stamped on a 2 inch square piece of Whisper White card stock and matted on Lavender Lace and Eggplant Envy with just a slight border showing of each color.

4) I embellished the butterfly by adding a floral body of Boho Blossoms in Lavender Lace and Eggplant Envy. A clear Dew Drop right in the center finished him off. I also added little white dots around the Lavender Lace flower with a white pen.

You can add just about any sentiment to this card. I used the "i miss you" from the new Stampin' Up! set FYI.

Blueberry season is until the end of August. I think we'll be making another trip and freeze some for the winter. I need to go scrapbook our outing to the blueberry farm! My purples and blue paper may be getting low.

Enjoy your day! Thank you for stopping by!

Bella Bleu Day!

I recently stumbled across a beautiful card and wondered what paper was on this card. To my surprise, it was Stampin' Up! Bella Bleu. I looked in the catalog and thought that had to be a retired paper because I certainly didn't recall it. Yes, there it was on page 162. The catalog picture does not do it justice. This paper is gorgeous!

I decided to make a card with it that resembles a book or notebook I guess? How did I do?

To make this style of card, the key ingredient is the Stampin' Up! Spiral Punch. Take your 4.25 x 5.5 inch card and where it folds, punch with the Spiral Punch along the edge. Once that is complete, I scored in about 1/2 inch from the fold/punched edge, and bent it slightly forward. Open the card and glue together along that 1/2 inch indentation. That's all there is to it. I added a little twine to where the binding is. You could also use ribbon or any other fibers you might have.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me or leave a comment. Check out the recipe below for all the other Stampin' Up! supplies I used.

Have a fabulous Saturday and be sure to stop back soon!
